POSTPARTUM SUPPORT GROUP

It is our belief that new families need the support of other families – as well as from your midwives. That’s why we offer informal postpartum support groups at our office facilitated by Samaya Cullerton, MTCM, L.Ac

CLASSES & OTHER ONLINE GROUPS

Preparing for your home birth with your midwives and others can make a big difference in your experience.

The following group prenatal classes are held online Thursdays 7 – 8:30 pm. See below for topics currently being offered and dates. Please pre-register to let us know you plan to attend and to receive your Zoom link and handouts ahead of time.

  • Acupressure & Massage with Sharon — Learn and practice massage and acupressure points for pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond. Pre-register here for July 2 or August 6.
  • Labor Tools Practice with Kate Bowland CNM — Join us to gain insight and tools for working though early, active labor and the pushing phase. You’ll become familiar with timing contractions, when to call the midwives, positions for different stages, rebozos, birth balls, peanuts, and birth stools. Pre-register here for June 4, July 9 or August 13.
  • Input/Output — What goes in must come out. We’ll review the basics of breastfeeding, and diapering options. (See Breastfeeding Support Group)
  • Postpartum Planning Class with Kem White and Anathea Abele— In this class we will discuss strategies to thrive and not just survive the postpartum period. We will cover postpartum practices used traditionally-historically and currently worldwide. Our class is formulated to help with postpartum planning. Some of the things we will be going over are nutrition, support, breast care, and tips to combat baby blues. Pre-register here for June 11, July 16 or August 20.
  • Baby Care Class with Sharon and Kem White — What happens once your baby is here? In this class we will explore what to do if your child or baby has a fever as well as common baby ailments, such as neonatal jaundice, colic and teething. Other topics that will be included are respiratory issues, such as the common cold, ear infections, allergies, and asthma. We will also discuss digestive issues, such as indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting. Additionally we will go over traditional Ayurvedic Infant Massage, Abyanga, and look at pressure points to calm and soothe your infant and child. Pre-register here for June 25, July 23 or August 27
